How long have you been in business?
Silver Whiskers Petsitting just launched in January 2009, although owner/operator Beth Nolley has been providing quality petsitting services to friends and family "unofficiallyl" for many, many years.
What is your primary product or service?
Loving, patient and attentive pet care services in your home, specializing in (but not limited to) birds and senior pets.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Having birds and senior pets as part of the family has proven to be a challenge in finding a qualified petsitter. I started my business to help pet owners like myself, who have pets whose care is not always self-explanatory. I raised three Long-haired Dachshunds and shared my life with them from 1989 until 2008. As my dogs got older and began to have special needs, I realized the importance of having a petsitter who has experience with senior/geriatric pets so that I could go out of town without worrying about whether or not my pets were receiving proper care during my absence. Now I live with young pets again (3 dogs and 1 cat), in addition to my 4 birds, and am highly qualified to provide petsitting services for pets of all ages. I find that puppy owners particularly need assistance in providing their pups with a mid-day bathroom break and play time during any given workday.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Silver Whiskers is happy to petsit any and all of your pets, young and old, furry and feathered, but those pets that others may consider to be special needs or high maintenance, Silver Whiskers Petsitting considers to be its special niche! I spend much more time with your pets than other petsitters. (minimum of 45 minutes per visit) The basic care needs can usually be provided much more quickly, but I find that spending the extra time pampering your pets creates a strong bond between us that is a win-win for everybody.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I am a sole proprietorship and do not have plans to hire any employees. Although being a one-person business keeps me on the run, I love all of my clients' pets as if they were my own, and would be very hesitant to trust someone else to be reliable and provide the highest quality of care that I pride myself on.
