How long have you been in business?
The school was founded by Yvonne de Vilar and her daughter Corine de Vilar who immigrated from France. Their school was incorporated in 1979 under the name Yvonne de Vilar Scientific Skin Care, Ltd. This name was sold to Hubert and Vernell Strecker when they bought the school in March of 1991. March 2009 is the school's 30th Anniversary! We will be celebrating with our version of March Madness.
What is your primary product or service?
Yvonne de Vilar Scientific Skin Care, Ltd. is a highly respected career-training institute offering comprehensive courses in the study of esthetics and makeup artistry. Skin care, body and waxing services are offered by our students in our Basic and Master Clinics at reduced rates. We also offer a full range of professional services done in the privacy of our salon rooms by our qualified and licensed master estheticians. To help you maintain your skin care at home, we carry three product lines: Dermalogica, Image and Murad.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Ms. Nell Strecker, director and owner, taught music for 28 years before moving into the field of esthetics. She obtained her esthetic license in Washington DC, as did everyone graduating from Yvonne de Vilar at that time. Mr. Hubert Strecker, Administrator and owner, owned a corporation in Germany that made machines for the paper industry.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are committed to excellence in education, services to students, graduates, and clients. We offer the most comprehensive education for the basic and master level esthetics licensing. Our school was the first european scientific skin care school in the U.S. Our students receive hands on (over 300 hours) practical experience in our clinic. They perform facials, body treatments and waxing on clients.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have one location in Vienna, Virginia.

Yvonne de Vilar Scientific Skin Care, Ltd. is located in the heart of Vienna, Virginia at 305.D Maple Avenue West, in the Maple Professional Park across from the Jade Shopping Center. The distance from Washington D. C. is 10 miles. From the Capital Beltway I-495, take exit 49 and go west on Route 66. (Inside the Beltway are HOV restrictions on Route 66, alternates are Route 50 or Route 29 to Nutley Street). From Route 66 take exit 62, then Route 243 North (Nutley Street toward Vienna) to Maple Avenue (the fourth light). Turn right on Maple Avenue (Route 123 north) and proceed 2/10 of a mile. Turn left into Maple Professional Park at building # 305 (Scientific Skin Care). Entrance to the school is on street level Suite A and Clinic/Salon is to the rear of the building Suite D.
