We help our customers keep their furkids healthy, safe and engaged. We get to know the dogs that visit with us, and care for them as well as we do our own canine companions. How long have you been in business?
I purchased Just Fur Pets in April 2014. This business has offered pet care services for 22 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Services and products for dogs - to include dog daycare, dog grooming, boarding, dog training, retail (premium dry, canned and raw foods and treats, supplies and toys), and self-serve pet bathing. We also offer walk-in nail trims for both dogs and cats.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I've learned a lot from hanging around with dogs; they're amazing, giving beings who choose to bond with humans even though they don't speak our language! I wanted to own a pet care business for quite some time. My background is in membership development and association management. I attend training seminars and workshops at Pet Boarding and Daycare Expo, SuperZoo, Whiz Bang Training and follow the Dog Gurus for dog daycare staff training, best practices and advice. We utilize training materials developed by the Dog Gurus and the Pet Industry Distributors Association to train staff in canine behavior, daycare operations, dog nutrition, and quality customer service provision. Our trainers are graduates of Animal Behavior College, members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen evaluators, and certified in Pet CPR and First Aid.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
1) The majority of our staff have worked here for many years and know our clients and customers and the dogs who visit us. 2) We utilize a comprehensive evaluation process for admission to our safe off-leash dog daycare program to ensure our playgroups are a good fit for your dog. 3) We have a daily schedule of games and activities in our daycare program to manage behavior and reduce the risk of incidents. 4) Our overnight boarding service includes dog daycare. 6) We work with our customers to keep their canine companions healthy, safe and engaged.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location - West Springfield Shopping Center.

My name is Marcia Cram; I'm the owner and am in the store most days throughout the week and weekend. I like to meet customers and talk about our dogs; and help people learn more about how to care of their canine companions. I have a friendly, well-trained staff who can help you read a dog food label, discuss dog nutrition, offer solutions to skin/coat/appetite issues, and offer suggestions for behavior and training adjustment needs.
What are your hours of operation?
We're open Mon. - Fri. 7:00am - 7:00pm; Sat. 8:00am - 5:00pm and Sun. 10:00am - 5pm. We offer late pick-up until 9:00pm for an additional fee for those utilizing our daycare and boarding services.
